Our mission is to bring the Holy Eucharist, friendship and cheer
to Residents of the Motion Picture Country Home and Hospital. It is
a wonderful way to deepen your spiritual life by bringing Christ to
others.
Our ministers visit and bring Communion to Catholic residents of
the Motion Picture Home and Hospital in Calabasas. Each minister normally
makes one Friday visit a month. A new schedule is prepared each quarter.
Typically, each of us is assigned to contact six to nine residents
per visit. We try to spend at least 10 minutes with each person — longer
if they feel like visiting. The personal contact brings the Lord to
them in a very “real” way.
In addition, all of our ministers are invited to participate in
First Friday Mass at the Home.
To participate you should be:
- Any practicing Catholic adult who feels called to serve.
- Available on one Friday morning per month for ministry and on
the first Friday of the month for Mass.
Each of our new volunteers is personally briefed and given a mentor
to follow and observe until you feel comfortable. Periodic workshops
are also held to help us better understand and relate to the sick
and elderly.
