Grades 1 through 8
To assist parents in fulfilling
their responsibility as the primary educators of faith formation
for their children, St. Mel Parish offers regularly scheduled religious
instruction for children who do not attend a Catholic school. Currently,
instruction is offered for children in grades 1 through 5 on Saturdays
from 9:00 am to
10:30 am from October through May throughout the traditional school
year. Occasionally, upon request, some classes may be offered
on alternate days and times. Middle school students in grades
6 through 8 attend class meetings on the first two Sundays of each
month from October through April.
RCIY
RCIY, or the Rite of Christian
Initiation for Youth, is a faith formation process that has been
developed to instruct and accommodate young people ages 11 and older,
who desire to receive the sacraments of Baptism and/or First Holy
Communion. RCIY
sessions meet approximately twice a month during the traditional
school year on Sunday evenings.
Sunday Morning Pre-School
Ages 2 to 5
St. Mel Parish offers religious education
experiences for the youngest members of our community during the
9:00 am Sunday Mass. Children,
ages 2 through 5 have the opportunity to learn about God in a developmentally
appropriate way through stories, music, and art while parents attend
morning Mass.
